Independent school campaigns are complex, intense and demanding. David works with schools to assess the readiness of their team, leadership, and community in preparation for a large capital or endowment campaigns and helps schools identify essential elements of a successful campaign, including the case for support, volunteer leadership, and prospect management. David advises on individual donor strategy and on integrating fundraising revenue into a larger financial plan.

David helps schools explore ways to build greater cultural competency into fundraising, alumni relations, communications and special events. He helps schools articulate why DEIB matters in independent school advancement and identify ways to create a more inclusive advancement program and a special events calendar that encourages belonging and community building, which leads to stronger fundraising results. David also facilitates conversations with DEIB professionals and advancement teams in schools to help build greater trust and alignment.

David facilitates board and committee discussions on fundraising, including capital campaigns and annual giving. He also conducts solicitation training for development/advancement committees and campaign committees. David brings deep experience in independent school finance and DEIB to big-picture conversations with trustees about the role of the board in fundraising.

David can provide support for independent school leadership in the critical areas of advancement coaching and training. Most school leaders lack the skills and experience to effectively manage a fundraising team. David can help coach heads of school as they develop the skills for solicitation and learn to better support and evaluate fundraising staff. David can also train new advancement directors as they develop effective fundraising programs.
